Designed by internationally acclaimed designer Shin Azumi, whose clients include lapalma, Magis, Desalto, Fredericia, Tefal, and Authentics, the Quaint is one of Azumi’s defining clock designs. His work is held in the collections of design museums including the Victoria & Albert Museum in the UK and Stedelijk Museum in the Netherlands. Made using a traditional brass casting technique originating in Takaoka, Toyama, the Quaint takes inspiration from the iconic clock towers of the Renaissance. Its solid cast brass body gives the clock a substantial presence while maintaining the simple form of a classic timepiece. Each Quaint Clock undergoes specialized coloration and hand polishing by skilled craftsmen to develop its distinctive surface texture and finish. The process gives every clock subtle variations, making each piece unique. The craftsmanship involved is time-consuming, with approximately one to two weeks required to complete a single Quaint Clock. The combination of Azumi’s design, traditional brass casting, and specialized finishing makes the Quaint a flagship Lemnos timepiece and a distinctive example of Japanese design and craftsmanship.
