Lemnos Edge S Clock

Minimalist yet distinctly sculptural, the Edge Clock transforms a functional timepiece into a striking expression of material and form. Designed by Shin Azumi and Tomoko Azumi, the clock is crafted from cast aluminum using traditional sand-casting techniques developed in Takaoka, Toyama—an area renowned for centuries of metalworking craftsmanship. The design explores the natural character of aluminum through a large, beautifully textured surface and deeply formed hour markers that extend inward from the outer edge. Carefully polished edges and indices create a subtle contrast against the sandblasted cast finish, giving the clock its signature sharp, architectural presence. Simple hour and minute hands, complemented by a smooth sweep second hand, preserve the clarity and restraint of the design. Created to be both highly legible and visually commanding, the Edge Clock has enough presence to stand confidently against strongly textured surfaces such as concrete or brick, while its minimal form allows it to integrate naturally into contemporary interiors. Originally introduced in 2001, Edge has become one of Lemnos’ enduring designs, recognized for bringing together advanced casting craftsmanship and uncompromising simplicity. The clock was selected for the JIDA Design Museum Selection and remains a distinctive example of Japanese manufacturing interpreted through contemporary industrial design.
