Interior designer Jenna Chused selects her favorite gifts for the holiday season
Asking Jenna Chused for homeware recommendations is like asking a professional chef what’s good at the farmer’s market. It’s what she does.
A designer, a stylist, an editor, a buyer and an entrepreneur, Chused launched Chused & Co. in 2015, specializing in residential interior design in the New York City area. Chused threads the needle of classic and contemporary, layering her spaces with textures and patterns, but never overdoing it. Tasteful, you might say, but never staid.
We asked Jenna to sift through our 2022 Gift Guide and highlight some gems. Ever the curious designer, she couldn’t resist also checking out several other of the 500-plus makers on our platform. As Chused says of her picks, “These are great gifts to both give and receive.”

“Organic shapes and natural materials are really in right now. And a ceramic vase like this can be used on its own or as a vessel for flowers. It provides a nice contrast to the hard lines of a credenza or mantle.”
“I love a classic, houndstooth weave. I would use this to drape over what might be an old fabric or to introduce a bit of drama to a room.”
“The fact that it’s shaped leather with no seams is just so cool. It’s great for a coffee table, for instance, to hold the TV remotes. Again, an organic shape; it’s oval but the sides are uneven. It’s just interesting.”
“Hoops are back, and they’re my favorite color—swamp green. Actually, let me think of a better adjective. How about mossy green?”

“If I were a store owner, I would get some of these to sell. This is a really good price, given that it’s handmade alpaca.”
“I just love the shape - it’s something to decorate the holiday table with. And instead of trying to do it with holders, you don’t even need holders. The candle itself makes the statement.”

“I just love the leather bottom with the thick, chunky knit. You can even hang them. What a great gift.”
