Khokho handbags demonstrate how innovation and design elevation can breathe contemporary life into traditional artisan techniques.

The handbags are the brainchild of Philippa Thorne, Central Saint Martins educated, Eswatini based designer and social entrepreneur. Philippa partnered with handbag designer Sapna Shah, formally of Rag & Bone, Calvin Klein and Zinhle Vilakati, master weaver and expert artisan trainer.

From this partnership, Khokho emerged, culminating in a high-end handbag collection that incorporates natural fibers like the indigenous Swazi ‘lutindzi’ grass into woven panels that are brought together with fine leather workmanship to produce a contemporary and signature look.
