About Kara Weaves
Kara Weaves is a Fair Trade certified Social enterprise working with Government registered co-operatives to
create fair-trade handwoven textiles in south-west India. Started in 2007, Kara
Weaves stands for everything we love about handmade products and the people
who make them.
We design contemporary home textiles, from cocktail napkins to beach towels, with the local towel fabric called "thorthu" Each product is hand- woven on traditional wooden looms from 100% cotton yarns.
It retains the sustainable connection between the heritage craft of traditional weaving and the exuberance of a contemporary lifestyle.
